About Us


The practice was established in 1975 to provide a comprehensive, confidential and impartial consultancy service to Clients in the specialised areas of water, wastewater and environmental management.

The services offered by the practice encompass all aspects of the water cycle, including:  water supply, treatment and distribution; sewage, wastewater and trade effluent treatment and disposal; and the associated planning, design, installation and commissioning of treatment systems.   In addition the practice can undertake:  project management;  environmental impact assessments (EIAs);  waste handling /minimisation audits;  provision of guidance and advice on permit applications under the Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR);  and, environmental pollution control (EPC) investigations as these may be required for regulatory compliance and/or environmental management system (EMS) development.

Guidance and assistance is also available on trade effluent handling and disposal, including advice on discharge consents and agreements, discharge standards, trade effluent charges, monitoring and sampling systems, analytical testing and negotiations with the Environment Agency and Statutory Water Undertakers.

John S. Cooper, the Principal, has extensive experience of the statutory, financial, and technical aspects of environmental protection as this relates to existing and new developments in both the public and private sectors.   He is an Expert Witness, a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management, a Chartered Scientist, a Chartered Chemist and a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The practice operates in accordance with the professional codes and standards of practice of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management and the Royal Society of Chemistry.  It has no links or vested interests in any contracting, manufacturing or similar concerns and it is able therefore to offer a fully independent and impartial consultancy service to Clients.
